Practical DIY Skincare, Haircare, Self-care, and Home Advice for Real Households
Welcome to Sianah Nalika DeShield Women’s Lifestyle Blog, a lifestyle-only website focused on DIY skincare, haircare, self-care, and home.
This site exists to help you make your own products at home and make smarter choices when you do buy, without wading through endless marketing claims, intimidating ingredient lists, or overly complicated routines.
Why This Site Exists
I created Sianah Nalika DeShield Women’s Lifestyle Blog to share what I have learned from years of making my own skincare, haircare, and home products at home.
I kept seeing the same problem: women feeling pressured to buy expensive brands and long routines that do not always work in real life, especially for families with children.
Some content focuses on trends, not on everyday use. They do not talk about:
How much time a routine actually takes.
Whether it is easy to maintain or becomes a burden.
Who it truly suits and who should skip it.
Whether the effort and cost are justified for your lifestyle and family.
I wanted a lifestyle site that focuses on practical questions like:
How can I make my own product instead of buying an expensive brand?
What simple ingredients can I use that are safe and effective?
When is it better to just buy a product instead of making it?
Which brand options are actually worth the money if I do buy?
My Background
I am a novelist turned blogger, a wife, and a mom of three boys. I have been creating things from my kitchen for over 15 years, and I have spent years making my own skincare, haircare, and home products for myself, my family, and for a small business I had a few years ago.
I am not a formulator or a scientist. I am simply someone who has been mixing, testing, and refining recipes at home and now sharing what has worked for us.
I am Liberian, and my approach to home life, self-care, and beauty reflects that background.
It is practical, resourceful, and focused on what truly serves the household.
How I Evaluate Routines, DIY Recipes, And Products
When I share DIY recipes or recommend products for skincare, haircare, self-care, or home, I consider:
How realistic the routine or recipe is for everyday life.
Time and effort required to make and maintain it.
Cost compared to buying a similar product.
Who it suits and who should avoid it.
How it fits into a busy home with children.
Recipes and routines I have personally made and used are identified as first-hand.
Other recommendations are clearly presented as research-based, using manufacturer information, product documentation, published specifications, and independent research.

My Approach To Affiliate Links
This website may participate in affiliate programmes. If you purchase through certain links, I may earn a commission at no additional cost to you.
I only recommend products and tools I would genuinely consider for my own home and family or that meet the evaluation criteria explained on this site.
I do not recommend products solely because they pay a commission.
Editorial Standards
I aim to create content that is:
Helpful and practical for real women and real homes.
Accurate and clearly explained where relevant.
Transparent about what I personally make and use versus what is research-based.
Updated when information changes or new insights become available.
DIY skincare, haircare, and home recipes are shared from personal experience and cultural practices. They are not medical advice.
If you have specific health conditions, allergies, or skin/scalp concerns, please consult a qualified professional before trying new products or routines.
If you notice outdated information or have suggestions, you can contact me using the contact page.
How My Two Sites Fit Together
I run two separate websites, each with a clear focus:
Sianah Nalika DeShield Women’s Lifestyle Blog (this site)
Does not include kitchen buying guides or detailed kitchen product reviews.
Sianah’s Kitchen Guide (my kitchen site)
My kitchen-only site, Sianah’s Kitchen Guide, is where I share:
Practical kitchen buying guides for appliances and tools.
Product comparisons that help you choose between options.
Kitchen explainers that answer common questions.
How-to guides for cleaning, using, and maintaining kitchen products.
Troubleshooting guides for common kitchen problems.
You can find it at: https://sianahskitchenguide.com/
The two sites complement each other: one focuses on the kitchen, the other on DIY skincare, haircare, self-care, and home, all using the same practical, household-first approach.
